Italian Market Ribbon CuttingThe Italian Market Restaurant, 1012 N. Third Street, Harrisburg opened last month with Mayor Stephen R. Reed cutting the ribbon. In the heart of Midtown, the Italian Market is conveniently situated near both the state capital complex and the new HACC Midtown Center. The Italian Market offers a wide variety of sandwiches, subs, and hot freshly prepared foods. Specialities include grilled focaccia sandwiches and multiple homemade pasta dishes, including homemade potato and macaroni salads. The Restaurant is owned and operated by Steve Burke and Mike Dickey, who leased the space in July and rehabilitated the building while also giving it a decorative upgrade throughout the entire first-floor interior (more than $20,000 was invested). Burke and Dickey make a good pair; not only did they both attend Bloomsburg University, but Burke received his degree in marketing while Dickey has worked in the food-service industry for many years. At the ribbon-cutting, Mayor Reed stated, "Midtown Harrisburg is going to experience a further upsurge in private investment as a result of major projects unfolding here. We believe the Italian Market Restaurant is but the first of many such small businesses that will now look closely at locating in the Midtown district, and we welcome all new businesses with open arms." The new eatery is open from 11am to 7pm Monday through Saturday and is closed Sunday. The enthusiastic staff makes sandwiches whos sizes eclipse their price. The Italian Market accepts phone orders at 635-8696. |
